You can now fly on VATSIM with Qantaslink-VA, and we encourage all our pilots to sign up at vatsim.net. When flying (as qantaslink-va of course!) on VATSIM it's similar to flying offline and you still have to file a pirep, but you have real ATC and other flight simmers flying other arcraft. VATSIM also provides your flight sim with real world weather automatically. For beginners it provides a chance to learn a bit about ATC and the certain calls to be made, as well as giving a more realistic flying enviroment to all flight sim enthusiasts. You can still choose to fly offline but the online experience is certainly something to try.
Our new system gives you a permenant callsign which is to be used for all Qantaslink-VA flights on VATSIM. If you wish to fly on VATSIM and don't have a callsign email for one at: chapoj@kardinia.vic.edu.au
If we are still flying on vatsim in three months we will be able to become a VATSIM Affiliated Virtual Airline.
So log on now and get flying...online.

GETTING STARTED
The fist thing to do is go to: www.vatsim.net and register to become a member, follow the directions and you'll be signed up in no time. After registration is complete take the time to read through the required reading in the pilots resources centre or click on the 'new pilots click here' button. Once you have done this you will need to download Squawkbox 3.0 from their software section or on google. Squawkbox is the programme that enables you to fly online with VATSIM. Now all you need to do is install Squawkbox and read the user quide which will explain how to log on, file a flight plan, ect.
Now you're almost set to go flying online
